This book analyzes the media landscape in Mexico, examining the intersections of politics, economics, and technology. The study explores the regulatory framework for media and telecommunications, highlighting the impact of the 2013 constitutional reform and the creation of the IFT. Despite advances, media ownership remains highly concentrated. It also investigates journalism’s financial challenges, where media outlets rely heavily on government funding, raising concerns about editorial independence. In addition, it addresses the role of digital platforms and the implications of these companies controlling a significant part of the advertising market. In February 2013, ITESO University convened various professors and scholars to conduct an initial analysis and balance the eighteen years of government of the PAN in Jalisco. After this collective work of analyzing the PAN as a political party in power, each of the speakers wrote an academic essay about the political life in Jalisco between 1995 and 2013.
